The proliferation of the exchange-traded fund industry has produced several hundred of these popular products. However, two key challenges have developed as a result of that growth. First, there’s a large degree of overlap among the most popular exchange-traded funds. And second, the common/popular funds may not necessarily offer the most opportunity to investors. Be prepared for volatility, though it’s worth it for most investors.
